Truecaller has been available on iPhones for some time, but it hasn’t been as smooth as the Android version. One of its main features—caller ID—has been missing on iPhones due to privacy restrictions. However, this is expected to change with the release of iOS 18.
Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), stated, “From the iOS 18 feature release documentation: Soon we will hopefully hear people say ‘Truecaller finally works on iPhone’.”
Although it has functioned reasonably well over the past two years, this time it will work exactly as you’d expect Truecaller to, with a complete end-to-end experience.

The post also included screenshots from iOS 18’s release documentation, which states:
“Call history search: Search through previous calls, transcribed voicemails, and contacts using various search criteria. Enter a number, name, or caller ID like ‘plumber’ or ‘bank’ to quickly retrieve call history in real time. Search within Recents in the Phone app or use Spotlight Search to bring up relevant information instantly.
Live caller ID lookup: New APIs allow developers like Truecaller to access data from their servers and provide live caller ID for incoming calls in a privacy-conscious manner.”
Truecaller has faced long-standing criticism over privacy concerns. In 2022, The Caravan conducted an investigation alleging that the app gathered user data without their consent. Truecaller denied these claims, stating the investigation was flawed and relied on incorrect data.
