Amway has appointed Michael Nelson as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Milind Pant, who served as CEO since January 2019, as stated in the official announcement.
Nelson brings more than 30 years of experience with Amway, having held significant leadership positions in strategy, human resources, supply chain, and technology.
Nelson’s expertise in people management, business strategy, and global operations makes him an ideal fit for the CEO position.
Amway Board Co-Chair Steve Van Andel stated, “Amway is stepping into the future with energy and confidence.”
According to Van Andel, the business is well-positioned to capitalize on its strengths, build on its recent achievements, and meet the demands of the market “in a way that only we can.”
Michael is a welcome addition to the board, and Van Andel stated, “We are sure that he brings exactly what Amway needs to continue its leadership, growth, and success—both now and in the future.”
Praising Nelson’s appointment, Board Co-Chair Doug DeVos remarked that Amway is a unique business, stating, “No one understands that better than Michael.”
“He knows who we are, where we can go, and how to get there. This is especially valuable as Amway embarks on a bold and innovative growth agenda,” DeVos added.
As President and CEO, Nelson will oversee approximately 14,000 employees and support over a million Amway business owners globally, the company said.
Founded more than six decades ago by Jay Van Andel and Rich DeVos, Amway will remain a private, family-owned business with a family-led board of directors.
Upon his appointment, Nelson expressed he was “honored and grateful” to the board for the opportunity to help steer the company forward.
“It’s a mission that has been dear to me for over 30 years, and I look forward to collaborating with the board, my colleagues, and Amway Business Owners to build upon the legacy and success created over the past 65 years,” Nelson stated.
Milind Pant was the first Indian and non-family member to serve as the CEO of Amway, taking on the role on January 2, 2019, as reported by PTI.
