Google has appointed Mitul Shah, former Apple India leader, as its Managing Director for Devices and Services. Shah will lead the sales and expansion efforts for Google’s Pixel range in India, focusing on the growing demand for smartphones and AI-powered devices.
In a LinkedIn post, Shah shared his excitement, saying, “It’s an honor to join a company at the forefront of innovation, especially working on a product that brings AI’s magic and power to millions in my beloved country.” He added that Google Pixel is “more than a device; it’s a platform that makes AI accessible to everyone.”
Shah believes in technology’s transformative power, especially AI’s ability to enhance creativity and daily life. He also highlighted India’s potential to benefit from AI in areas like productivity and inclusivity.
Prior to joining Google, Shah worked at Apple for over nine years, most recently as the head of consumer sales. He has also held roles at Accenture and Infosys, specializing in supply chain management.
Shah’s appointment comes as Google works to expand the Pixel brand in India, with plans to launch new devices and enhance after-sales services. The company has also started assembling Pixel 8 series locally as part of the “Make in India” initiative to reduce costs and support local manufacturing.
In India’s competitive smartphone market, Shah will lead efforts to offer compelling features and pricing to gain a larger market share.
