Mr. Marine is excited to announce the appointment of Charles Laarhuis as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 15, 2024. Mr. Laarhuis will succeed Karel Peters in leading the global operations of the rapidly growing TIC organization.
The Board of Mr. Marine stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Charles to our team. His exceptional leadership across various roles and his profound industry knowledge will be crucial as we continue to broaden our global services.”
With a strong background in the maritime and oil & gas sectors, Charles brings extensive experience to Mr. Marine. After spending several years at sea as a marine engineer, he transitioned to shore-based leadership roles in the TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) and classification industries, managing operations across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Recently, he has focused on product development and engaging in M&A activities within the TIC sector, successfully expanding into emerging markets.
“On behalf of the board, we also wish to express our deep gratitude to Karel Peters for his invaluable contributions to Mr. Marine over the last four and a half years. Under Karel’s leadership, Mr. Marine introduced two new business lines, expanded its network, and enhanced global operations. His dedication to excellence and his people-centered approach have set the stage for Mr. Marine’s continued success and growth.
“I am thrilled to join Mr. Marine in its journey towards innovation and growth in the marine sector,” said Charles Laarhuis, the recently appointed CEO, with enthusiasm. My objective is to advance our aim of guaranteeing the safety and compliance of vessels globally by building on the solid basis established by Karel Peters. In order to enable our team to surpass customer expectations and adjust to the changing demands of the marine sector, I think it is important to cultivate a culture of cooperation and excellence.
