Truecaller, the global software company, has appointed Rishit Jhunjhunwala as its new Chief Executive Officer. Jhunjhunwala, who currently leads Truecaller’s product division and serves as Managing Director of its India operations, has been with the company since 2015. He will officially step into the CEO role on January 9, following the departure of current CEO Alan Mamedi.
This leadership transition comes after Truecaller’s Co-founders, Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam, announced that they would be stepping back from operational duties by June 30, 2025. Both will continue to play strategic roles as board members and advisors, supporting the leadership team in guiding Truecaller’s future growth.
Jhunjhunwala has made significant contributions at Truecaller over the years, starting as Head of Product in 2015. He later advanced to Chief Product Officer in 2020 and became Managing Director for India in 2021.
Coincidentally, the announcement occurred on the same day the Indian Income Tax Department visited Truecaller’s India offices to conduct a tax-related inquiry. Truecaller confirmed that it is cooperating with the authorities and is awaiting formal communication regarding the matter.
In an official response, Truecaller stated that it received an unannounced visit from tax officials on November 7, 2024, and is fully assisting the investigation. The company clarified that this is part of routine tax oversight and not a targeted investigation. Truecaller emphasized that it has consistently fulfilled all tax obligations across the regions in which it operates and that its intra-group pricing policies align with international standards.
