SBI CEO Advises Ripple to Initiate IPO Preparations ‘Promptly’

CEO Yoshitaka Kitao

In a recent X post, SBI Holdings CEO Yoshitaka Kitao advised Ripple, a major enterprise blockchain company, to begin preparations for an initial public offering (IPO) “as soon as possible” after resolving its legal issues with the SEC.

In early October, the SEC filed an appeal notice in the Ripple case, extending the ongoing legal proceedings. However, some legal analysts believe the SEC may abandon the appeal, especially with potential leadership changes at the agency, potentially clearing regulatory hurdles for Ripple.

Speculation is already building around the possibility of Ripple going public in the near future.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently clarified that pursuing an IPO is not currently a “high priority” for the company, citing its strong financial position. However, he did not completely dismiss the idea of an IPO in the future.

In 2022, Garlinghouse indicated that Ripple would consider an IPO after the SEC lawsuit concluded. He had previously expressed his vision of Ripple becoming a public company.

Back in 2020, Garlinghouse had predicted an IPO for Ripple within a year, but the SEC’s legal actions delayed those plans.

At present, Ripple appears to be adopting a cautious approach, keeping its IPO ambitions on hold as it navigates its legal and regulatory challenges.
