According to Forbes, the list of the world’s wealthiest individuals contains names that most people are unlikely to ever recognize.
There are certain individuals on Forbes’ list of the top ten wealthiest persons in the world who you may not even be familiar with.
Since regaining the top spot in May 2024, Elon Musk has remained the richest man in the world, despite his net worth dropping by around £5 billion in the past month.
The Tesla CEO’s net worth is an astounding $330.1 billion as of November of this year, according to Forbes.
Moreover, he was declared the world’s richest person in September 2021 and June 2023, before regaining the title in May after dropping to second position at the start of the year.
Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon chairman Jeff Bezos, who rank third and fourth on the list, respectively, are other names that most people would assume would be on the list.
There could be some names on the list, though, that people aren’t as acquainted with or may have never heard of before.
Amancio Ortega comes in at number ten. He co-founded the Spanish multinational apparel giant Inditex, which is well-known for fast fashion labels including Zara, Berskha, and Stradivarius, with his ex-wife, Rosalia Mera. With more than 7200 locations globally, Inditex is the largest fast-fashion chain in the world.
Mr. Ortega ranked 13th on the list of World Billionaires in 2023 and 2024, with a net worth of $123.8 billion (about £97 billion). In September, he returned to the top 10 thanks to a rise in Inditex shares.
Warren Buffett, who is rated number six with a net worth of $150.6 billion (£118 billion), is regarded as one of the most successful investors of all time. He is the owner of Berkshire Hathaway, an American conglomerate that controls several businesses, notably Duracell, a manufacturer of batteries.
In contrast, solely males make up the top 10 ranking. Ranked as the 17th richest person in the world, she is the richest woman in the world. Sam Walton created the American global retail conglomerate Walmart, which partially controls Asda.
Her estimated net worth is $101.9 billion (£80 billion), and she and her brothers inherited shares in the business.
