Disney announced on Monday that James Gorman, the former CEO of Morgan Stanley, will take over as its new chairman. The company also outlined its plan to name a successor for current CEO Bob Iger by early 2026.
Iger, who returned as CEO in November 2022 after stepping down in 2020, is under contract until December 2026.
“One of our main priorities is appointing a new CEO, which we expect to do by early 2026,” Gorman, the newly appointed chairman, stated.
Before Bob Iger’s contract expires in December 2026, the timeline shows the progress accomplished by the Board and the Succession Planning Committee, guaranteeing a seamless handover.
Iger’s tenure as Disney’s CEO began in 2005 and ended in 2020. Bob Chapek took over as CEO for two years before Iger returned.
