At Salesforce’s annual ‘Dreamforce’ event in San Francisco, CEO Marc Benioff declared that the world is entering an “Indian era,” underscoring India’s rising global influence. Benioff expressed enthusiasm about Salesforce’s growing presence in India, where the company already employs over 11,000 people. He emphasized the significant role Indian operations play in engineering and market engagement, highlighting notable clients like the Bajaj Group.
Benioff also commended Arundhati Bhattacharya, former SBI Chairperson and current head of Salesforce India, for her leadership in guiding this expansion. Although he didn’t disclose specific growth targets or workforce expansion plans, he stressed India’s pivotal role in Salesforce’s future strategy.
Additionally, Salesforce introduced ‘Agentforce,’ an innovative autonomous AI tool designed to optimize business processes without human input. Benioff described it as a major advancement beyond traditional chatbots, with the potential to transform sales, marketing, and commerce. While acknowledging concerns about AI-induced job displacement, he pointed out that with proper workforce transitions, companies could unlock new growth opportunities.
