Rakesh Thukral is set to take over as CEO of Edelman’s Asia Pacific (APAC) operations, succeeding Warren Fernandez, who will step down to pursue a new career opportunity. Fernandez will remain with Edelman until the end of the year to facilitate a smooth transition.

Reflecting on his time at Edelman, Fernandez stated, “I am thankful to have been part of Edelman and worked alongside some of the industry’s most talented individuals. A new role has come up that aligns closely with my longstanding interests in public policy, providing me an opportunity to engage in significant political and geopolitical issues.”

In his new role, Thukral will report directly to Ed Williams, Edelman’s President for International. Previously serving as APAC Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Edelman India, Thukral has focused on driving growth by prioritizing clients, talent, and the diversification of services across the firm’s offerings.

Expressing gratitude for Fernandez’s contributions, Williams remarked, “Warren’s leadership has broadened and strengthened Edelman’s capabilities in APAC. His extensive experience in the news and media sectors has been instrumental for many clients, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Williams further noted that the APAC region holds significant potential for Edelman and its clients, making it a core focus for the firm. Thukral’s expertise in guiding global companies into the Indian market, as well as supporting Indian businesses’ international expansion, will benefit Edelman’s client portfolio across APAC. “His deep understanding of the region’s business, political, and societal landscape assures me that our business is in capable hands,” Williams added.

Commenting on his new role, Thukral shared, “Thanks to the leadership of Warren and Ed, Edelman has established a strong, integrated presence across Asia. We have an exceptional team and valuable client relationships throughout the region. I look forward to working with our teams and clients to continue elevating our work and providing solutions that support their growth in these complex times.”
